Portonave set a new record
Portonave set a new record in container handling in august 2016. It handled 85,518 TEUs (unit of measurement equivalent to a 20-feet container) in the period and registered the best month since the operational startup of the Terminal in October 2007.
Compared to August last year, Portonave registered 13% growth in container handling. In the year so far, Portonave handled 587,540 TEUs, compared to 428,424 TEUs in the same period in 2015, up 37%
Exports played a prominent role in the first eight months of 2016. Frozen meats were the top export product, followed by wood. August was a positive month for Brazil’s foreign trade, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC). Trade balance was a surplus of US$ 4.1 billion, 54% higher than in August 2015. Pork exports grew by a remarkable 9.4% in the period.
